    Karey has extensive experience working with organizations and campaigns to develop community-focused programs that improve health, awareness and quality of life for our residents. Karey has supported industry leaders through transition and change, with previous experience as the Transportation Lead for APEC, Chief Communications Officer for Maui Region and Neighbor Island Regional Director for HMSA, facilitating in-community partnerships for improved health and well-being.

    Hāloa recently completed his Masters Degree in Coaching and Athletics Administration, with a focus in the analysis and transmission of information and data. An excellent communicator, coach and student athlete, Hāloa has worked across age groups, skill levels and organizational types to empower others to work together as a team to achieve their best results.

  • Cody Pueo Pata

    Classically-graduated in 2001, Cody Pueo Pata is the Kumu Hula of Hālau Hula ʻo Ka Malama Mahilani, based in Kahului, Maui. As a founding member of the Leo Kāhoa steering committee of Huamakahikina–an international coalition of Kumu Hula that advocates for the integrity, stewardship, and protection of Hula–Pueo has been instrumental in inspiring public recognition of Hula and the role it plays in our community. Pueo is also a member of the Kumu Hula Steering Committee for the Hālau of ʻŌiwi Art, and the former Cultural Advisor to Mayor Victorino. An award-winning recording artist, Pueo is a sponsored by Kanileʻa ʻUkulele with 21 feature albums and the author of “Ohu'ohu na Mauna o 'E'eka, Place Names of Maui Komohana.”

  • Sabrina-Lynn "Bri" Tahauri

    Born and raised in Wailuku, Bri attended H.P. Baldwin High School as a student-athlete and later graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) and Bachelor of Arts in Communication (BA) at the University of Hawaii at Hilo. With a passion for organizing and attention to detail, Bri enjoys overseeing the day-to-day operations of the organization, ensuring that business processes are efficient and effective. Prior to joining Team KKL, Bri served in multiple roles of management, ranging from retail to office. Most recently, Bri spent the last 9+ years as a licensed insurance producer in multiple lines of insurance.

    Angela graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Communications, which has provided her with a solid foundation in effective communication strategies. Before joining the KKL team, Angela worked in hospitality. With over 13 years of experience in the hospitality industry, she has gained valuable insight into delivering exceptional customer service. She has developed strong interpersonal and communication skills, allowing her to effectively interact with guests and colleagues.

    Anu is from Haliʻimaile, Maui. She’s an alumna of Kamehameha Schools Maui, UH Maui (Hawaiian Studies), and UH Mānoa (Interdisciplinary Studies with an emphasis in Social Work and Education). Anuhea has been an ʻōlapa of Hālau Nā Lei Kaumaka O Uka for 20+ years with Kumu hula Nāpua Greig Silva and Kahulu Maluo-Pearson. Hālau has given her an abundance of opportunities to gain ʻike and be a vessel through hula that reinforces the foundational pillars and values in her life. Anuheaʻs journey, continuous learning and achievements are rooted in the deep aloha she has for Mauiʻs rich cultural tapestry, her ʻOhana and community.

  • Teilana Polanikapuapāola Akre

    Teilana is a Kamehameha Schools Maui graduate and will be attending Weber State University in Fall 2024, pursuing a bachelor's degree in Radiologic Technology. Her hobbies include watching Netflix/ Hulu, drawing, singing, and playing ukulele, guitar, and piano. She also enjoys spendng time with family and friends.

  • Tyson Miyake

    Tyson Miyake served as deputy managing director and chief of staff for Maui County Mayor Mike Victorino. Prior to that, he served as Chief Operating Officer of Miyake Concrete Accessories Inc. He is a director on the American Cancer Society Hawaii Pacific board and a mentor to the Maui High School Academy of Hospitality and Tourism, and he previously served on the executive board of the Boy Scouts of America. He also serves in the Hawai‘i State House of Representatives representing House District 10: Portion of Waiehu, Paukūkalo, Wailuku, Wailuku Heights, Waikapū, Hyashi Village.

  • John Pele

    John Pele has worked and lived in nearly every capacity of business over his career. Working his way up from a busboy to General Manager at Molokai Ranch, John parlayed those skills to open his own businesses, operating a grocery store and restaurant on Molokai for the last twelve years. John has also served on the Molokai Planning Commission, County of Maui Board of Ethics, and the Hawaiʻi Tourism Authority Destination Management Action Plan Committee for Molokai. He is committed to finding balanced solutions to serve the needs of our local families for generations to come.

  • Sterling Higa

    Sterling Higa is a nonprofit leader, educator, and writer. He served on the communications faculty at Hawai‘i Pacific University for five years, teaching public speaking and technical communication. He also wrote for Honolulu Civil Beat and Hawaii Business Magazine. Sterling cofounded and serves as executive director of Housing Hawai‘i’s Future, a nonprofit movement creating opportunities for Hawai‘i's next generation by ending the workforce housing shortage.
